Campoalegre

Campoalegre

Is a Colombian municipality located in the center of the department of Huila. The territory is framed to the west by the Magdalena River and the Betania dam, and to the east by the west flank of a branch of the eastern mountain range. It is part of the Sub North region of the department. Its territorial extension is 485 km², its height is 525 meters above sea level and its average temperature is 27ºC.

It has a population of 34,923 inhabitants according to the DANE projection for 2019. It is an important agro-industrial center with factories that process large-scale marketed rice, livestock (especially beef) and fish farming due to its proximity to the Betania dam. It is known as “The Rice Capital of Huila”
